Ask the young people who are entering the workforce about their health insurance, and the odds are that they will tell you that they have no need for such coverage. Instead, many opt for taking the $50 to $90 extra each month in their paychecks rather than having this money put toward a cheap insurance plan. Obviously, this is exceedingly unwise. Accidents can happen at any given second – if you knew that a car would hit you, then it would not be an accident – and the sad reality is that thousands of young people are unable to qualify for public assistance due to the assets they possess and the income they have the opportunity of earning, and thus medical bills in the thousands and sometimes tens of thousands add up quickly, leaving the person paying for decades for a bill that could have been avoided in the first place. Add to this the fact that many try to get out from under these expensive bills by either not paying them or declaring bankruptcy, and you can see how a lack of insurance will oftentimes spell an almost lifelong financial disaster.
Cheap insurance – here, in the UK, and also in many other areas on the globe – may be tailored to the individual needs of the individual. Young men, for example, who are single, do not necessarily need the kind of health insurance that a young woman of child bearing age might require. Similarly, a family of four with small children will require different coverage than a family that includes extended family members of advanced years.
Insurance is sometimes viewed as a Byzantine proposition, and at times it does appear that between the fees, charges, legalese, and exclusions it is hard to come to terms with what the insurance actually covers. Yet the facts speak for themselves: insurance protects. It can restore health, possessions, peace of mind, and minimize personal monetary culpability, and risks. Thus, cheap insurance for young people as well as insurance - cheap or otherwise – for the middle aged and the elderly should be purchased. You need to insure your health, life, vehicles, home, and possessions. It does not matter if you drive an old beat up car, or a brand new Corvette, whether you rent or own, or if you own little or a lot. If you have appropriate insurance coverage you will not have unexpected medical bills that will leave your budget in disarray, and you will be able to replace items that would otherwise cost a lot of money to buy again, such as television sets, computers, and also jewelry.
