When it comes to cars, tires are to the car’s safety, what rims are to the car’s image. You might be surprised to know that even cheap rims command quite a price for the aficionado who simply cannot live another day without some cheap chrome rims. Of course, these rims not only come in different sizes, but they also run the gambit when it comes to the price tags that are involved in this passion. There are dirt cheap rims that will fit on a few of the cars currently available on the market. Then there are cheap car rims that have the racing fan in mind. Of course, if you are really serious about your rims, nothing but cheap custom rims will do!
Yet if you are unsure about the “rims for sale” sign you have spotted either on the Internet or in your local newspaper, you will want to make sure that you understand what you are getting yourself into. First and foremost, not all rims are created equal. While it is possible to buy rims for cheap through the manufacturer or dealer, the best source for rims cheap is a private party or closeout sale. Both of these offer no ironclad guarantees, but the price tags will be far lower. If you find such rims for sale, be sure to understand the measurements! The nicest and least expensive set of rims will be of very little use to you if they do not fit on your car. Thus, make sure that you understand how to measure your car and how to understand the rims’ measurements. Secondly, understand that cheap rims that are used have their own problems. Before buying, you need to thoroughly inspect the rims for damage. This does not only refer to the incidental damage of the occasionally kicked up rock or pebble, but it much more refers to an inexpertly home installation job that might have left its mark. Sometimes car aficionados will attempt to alter their rims so that they will fit a model or make of car for which they were clearly not designed. Buying such a set of rims will impair your ability to properly mount them. Last but not least, keep in mind that very cheap rims that would normally cost an arm and a leg might have a good reason for being so cheap. After all, who would want to part with their high priced rims at a give away price? Find out exactly what is affecting the price of the rims you are looking at, and bring along an expert if you are not entirely certain that you could spot a problem on your own.
