It would be hard to imagine a world without music. It doesn’t matter from which culture you come; there is some kind of musical sound associated with it. Music has been in existence almost as long as humans have inhabited the earth. Longer if you consider the sounds made by our animal counterparts. Music is a vital part of our heritages and our cultures. It doesn’t matter what type of music you like, they type you choose can say a lot about you.
Today we have so many ways to gain access to our favorite music. Previously music stores were the only real possibilities, outside of radio. Today, things have changed immensely. We have online music and can even get free music down loads. The quality varies but you can get quick access to your favorite hits. The internet provides some fantastic free music. There are thousands of internet radio stations for one to pick from. You could be in London but listening to a station in Los Angeles. You can choose station by decade or era. If you’re a fan of the 60’s then there are loads of stations that just play music from that decade. If you’re not into eras but types then that is possible as well. There are plenty of stations built around music genres. It doesn’t matter if you like rock, country, rap religious, classical or reggae. The internet will have a station for you. In the 80’s the way we experiences music changed forever. Mtv was created changing music from something you only heard to something that could be seen. Now an artist wouldn’t dare release a song without a very expensive music video to back it up. Mtv introduced another new concept, Music news. They were the first entity to dedicate time to what was happening in the music world. Anything could be covered from new releases to what was happening in artist’s lives. The way we enjoy music has changed immensely. 30 years ago we were mostly confined to radios and records. Today music is played via our TV’s and computers. The internet has made it possible to literally snatch music from the airwaves in the form of music down loads. Who knows what the future may hold for those of us who love to enjoy music.
